A thorough care cure makes the car fit for spring. The first warm sunrays bring good cheer and give motorists a hope of spring. But before the first jaunt into the newly awakening green, the car should be made ready for the new season. The cold weather, constant damp and aggressive gritting materials have left visible and invisible traces on the vehicle. Therefore, it is high time for a thorough spa. Regular use of the right care products, also maintains the value of the car.
You Need Wheels
First things to get busy on are the wheels. The dirt sticks especially stubbornly here. A high performance rim cleaner like the SONAX Xtreme Rim Cleaner makes short work of it, however. But be careful with aggressive products. They attack the wheel mounting bolts and other metal surfaces on the wheels. Despite its intensive working power SONAX Xtreme Rim Cleaner does not attack metal or plastics. A brush can be used to help out on difficult to access places.
Paintwork care is especially important now – start with a thorough wash
During the winter months a volatile coating of soot, tar, oil and salt has been deposited on the paintwork. First remove the coarser dirt with a powerful water jet. Next come bucket, water and sponge. With a splash of shampoo in the water, coarser grime is eradicated but the paintwork, and the hands, are spared. If possible, try not to stir up dirt particles deposited in the bucket! Now rinse off once again with clear water – there, clean.
For manual washing, SONAX recommends their Xtreme Active Shampoo 2 in 1. Just 20-30 ml of the super concentrated shampoo in 10 litres of water is sufficient to wash the dirt from the car quickly, thoroughly and gently. When applied undiluted, it eradicates stubborn “blemishes” such as bird droppings and insect residues. Moisturising active ingredients care for the car even during washing. Perfect: This innovative SONAX product can also be used as a household detergent for “special cases”: Tiles, porcelain and enamelled surfaces will radiate, after cleaning, with a fresh fragrance and a new shine.
All-round exterior protection
To give the vehicle’s outer casing shine and optimal protection, a paintwork polish is indispensable for every car, especially after the winter. However: To achieve an optimum shine result, the product must be attuned to the special requirements of the paintwork. For nearly new and cleaned and prepared paintwork, a pure hard wax such as SONAX Xtreme Brilliant Wax 1 is ideal. This is pure care. This best of waxes has a very high content of natural Carnauba waxes, which is best worked into the paintwork with a care sponge. It contains no abrasives. After polishing out, one coat produces a rich shine and offers long lasting protection. When the paintwork is nearly new but appears slightly dull due to environmental stresses, then a “gentle” treatment, with a mild polish such as SONAX Xtreme Polish & Wax 2, is ideal. Micro-fine abrasives smoothen over the hairline cracks, a coating of highly concentrated Carnauba wax is worked deeply into every pore of the paintwork. Just a single application creates a barrier which air and water will find difficult to pass through.
Extremely weathered and greying paintwork will require a highly effective abrasive treatment to strip off the destroyed top microscopic paint layer. This is accomplished by SONAX Xtreme Polish & Wax 3. Just one application restores colours and a deep shine, leaving the paintwork “like new”.
Spring freshness for the interior
To give the car a spring fresh look, one really has to tackle the interior as well. Tip: If possible use a silicone-free cockpit cleaner, to retain the matt effect. Otherwise the cockpit will seem “greasy” SONAX recommends their Xtreme Cockpit Cleaner matt effect, ideal for the care of matt and textured surfaces. The cleaner also has an anti-static effect. The application leaves a pleasantly fresh fragrance.
Clean windscreens mean greater safety
In spring, when the sun hangs low on the horizon, a dirty and smeared windscreen can become a safety risk. Four seconds of poor vision at 90 kmh means “driving blind” for 120 metres.
